I've been tweaking the look and profile of the skidplate vent lately. Based on the initial designs, the test fitting, and the overall look on the VX, I have to make some necessary changes that I thought was necessary to get it as perfect as possible. I know that some may say that it looks great as is. My wife agrees. However, I'm looking not only at the micro aspect of the product but also the overall big picture on the VX.
So the initial idea was to have the vent broken up in three different pieces: the vent body, the middle fin, and the back grill. All of which can be painted separately and reassembled. I also though exploring a different edgier lip around the vent body would be interesting.

Then I noticed that the lip did not relate to the foglight profile lip which bothered me a bit. Because of their close proximity to each other, it's easy to compare the parts and see the noticeable difference. So, I want both to come from the same family or product line for these two specific parts to show consistency in the design thinking and the overall look on the VX. Also, this brief install allowed me to see a visual difference between the OEM center hexagon grill pattern and the one on the skidplate vent. This and the profile lip encouraged me to update both design features for better consistency.

So, I worked on tweaking the profile to match a similar look to the foglight trim and changed the grill pattern to a hexagon shape with some depth to it to match the OEM center main grill. I'll be printing out a set to test fit and post results soon.
