Well, that's why they call it prototyping. I received the first two samples (1/8" and 3/16" thickness) of the hood insert heat extractor today and began trimming the extra flash material. The appearance of both pieces was what I expected for a quick sample in terms of appearance.

Unfortunately, I found out that both parts were a little big by about 3/8"-1/2" all around when I tried fitting onto the hood. This wasn't good as it did not fit on the hood pocket where the insert would normally install. So, it overhung on one side or the other on both directions. As you can imagine, I was a bit disappointed as this setback was unexpected and delayed the completion of this project.

I didn't want this unforeseen event ruin my day. But, it was a bit upsetting as I'm thinking, at worse case scenario, that I may need to pay for another mold to be made. I won't know until Monday morning when I drop by the shop and show them the results. I plan to bring the OEM insert as shown in the pics to give them a reference of what I hope to get in terms of the scale. At this point, there was nothing I could really do and decide to just wait til then and see what options that my vendor could offer to fix this issue. I'm hoping it won't be any expensive fix. Until then, I'll sit and hang tight.
